WHAT TO EXPECT

Fees & Insurance

Therapy is $150 to $280 per 50-minute session, depending on your clinician.

Assessments are $2,000 to $4,000. We bill most insurers directly.

You will always know your fee before your first appointment.

THERAPY COST

How Much Does Therapy Cost at One Psychology Clinic?

Individual therapy costs $150 to $280 per 50-minute session. The fee depends on your clinician's training and registration, and it is the same for in-person and virtual sessions.

  • Clinical Psychologist: $280 per 50-minute session

  • Psychological Associate: $250 per 50-minute session

  • Doctoral-level clinical psychology student, supervised by a registered psychologist: $225 per 50-minute session

  • Graduate practicum student, supervised by a registered psychologist: $150 per 50-minute session

These fees apply to individual therapy for adults and to teen therapy. Each clinician's fee is also listed on their profile on our team page.

Couples and family therapy: $240 per 50-minute session.

Career counselling: $1,000 for a structured four-session process, billed at $250 per 50-minute session. The fee includes career assessment measures.

Reduced-fee and sliding scale therapy

Most of our clinicians reserve a limited number of sliding scale spots for clients facing financial hardship. We also hold a small number of pro bono (free) spots provided by our practicum students. To ask about availability, mention it on the New Client Form or email info@onepsychology.ca.

ASSESSMENT COST

How Much Does An Assessment Cost?

Assessments are billed session by session, not as one lump sum. This spreads the cost over several weeks and lets you submit each receipt to your insurer as you go.

Assessments are available for adolescents and adults. They are typically completed by senior doctoral students in clinical psychology under the supervision of a registered clinical psychologist, who reviews the findings and signs the final report.

INSURANCE

Are Services at One Psychology Clinic Covered by Insurance?

Many extended health benefit plans cover services provided by psychologists and psychological associates. Coverage varies from plan to plan, so please confirm the details with your insurer before your first appointment. Private psychological services are not covered by OHIP.

Questions to ask your insurer

  • Does my plan cover psychological services, and what is my yearly maximum?

  • Is there a maximum amount covered per session?

  • Does my plan cover services provided by a clinician who is supervised by a registered psychologist?

  • Do I need a doctor's referral to be reimbursed?

Direct billing

We bill most insurance companies directly, including Beneva/SSQ, Canada Life, GreenShield, and Manulife (and many others). The full list of insurance companies we can bill to is here. If we cannot bill your plan directly, you pay at the time of your session and submit your receipt for reimbursement.

Receipts

You receive a receipt for every payment. Receipts for supervised services are issued in the name of the supervising psychologist and also list the name and credentials of the clinician who provided the service. Keep your receipts, as fees for psychological services can qualify as a medical expense on your income tax return.

WSIB, NIHB, MNO

One Psychology Clinic is registered with the WSIB Community Mental Health Program and also works with the Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) program and the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Mental Wellness Program.

POLICIES

Payment and Cancellation Policy

How payment works

Payment is due at the time of each session. We accept credit card and e-transfer. Assessments are billed one session at a time as the work is completed, so there is no large payment up front. No HST is added to therapy or assessment fees.

Cancellations and missed appointments

We ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Appointments cancelled with less notice, or missed without notice, are charged the full session fee. Insurance plans generally do not reimburse fees for missed appointments.

Forms, letters and additional reports

Some requests fall outside of a regular session, such as insurance forms, accommodation letters, or copies of records. When a request requires additional clinical time, it is billed in 15-minute increments at your clinician’s regular session rate, based on the time and complexity involved.

For brief and straightforward requests, however, we are pleased to include this service at no additional cost as part of your care at One Psychology Clinic. Your clinician will always let you know in advance if a fee will apply, so you can feel confident knowing there are no unexpected charges.

Fee changes

We review our fees periodically. Current clients are told about any change before it takes effect.

Fees last updated: October 2026.
